letting goEcclesiastes 3:1 says, “For everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven;”  And verse 3:6 says, “A time to search and a time to quit searching.  A time to keep and a time to throw away.”

One of the great challenges of life is deciding when to hold on and when to let go.  Great things have been achieved by those who refused to let go even when everything seemed to be against them.  Others have lost much by holding on for too long.

There is certainly great virtue in resilience against set backs and persistence until the end.  Equally, there are times when the virtue is in knowing that it’s time to let go.

Sometimes in life you have to let go of something in order to make room for the new and good things that are waiting to arrive in your life; sometimes in order to get what you want you have to let go of what you think you have.

Sometimes it is in the letting go that we find what it is we truly want to hold on to.

There are many things that could be what you need to let go of in your life.  It may be a situation or circumstance; it may be things, memories, or people.  It may be something you describe as “it’s just the way it’s always been done.”   It may also be a self-image, thought pattern or behavior pattern.  The question is ….

What do you need to let go of so that you can find what it is that you truly want to hold on to?

Fueling Your Inner Fire with ACTION:

What area of your life are you not getting the results you desire?

Is it time to let go of something?

Answering this question will come in listening to your heart with honesty and courage.

When you know something is right in the depths of your heart and soul, then it’s time to hold on.  When you try to quit and everything in life leads you back to it, then it’s time to hold on.

When your heart says, “no,” but you find yourself intellectually rationalizing and justifying, then it’s time to consider letting go.
Are you holding on to something only because
you can’t see what’s beyond the letting go…“Sometimes you just have to take the leap,
And build your wings on the way down”
